Find a Black Wedding Dress
Find a Black Wedding Dress

For brides looking to buck the tradition of the white wedding dress resources are scarce. Many brides today are wearing red and even black dresses to their weddings. Here are a few simples steps to finding the not-white-dress of your dreams.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • The Internet
  • A few local dress shops
  • A notebook
  • Patience
  1. Step 1

First, go online and look at as many different styles of wedding (and even non-wedding) dresses as you can. Print off dresses that have elements that you like and add them to your notebook. Make notes of the different things on each dress that you do and do not like.

  2. Step 2

Gather your wedding posse (Mother, bridesmaids, etc) and discuss the type of dress that you are looking for. Together, come up with a list of different stores to go dress hunting at.

  3. Step 3

Pick a date at least a week away to go to the different stores. If you will be going to bridal salons be sure to call ahead because most will require that you schedule an appointment to try dresses on.

  4. Step 4

Go shopping! Head out with your crew on your chosen day to the different stores on your list. Keep in mind that, depending on the stores selection, you may be there for 30 minutes or over two hours.

  5. Step 5

Once you have found the dress of your dreams go ahead and buy (or order) it!

Tips & Warnings
  • Buying a wedding dress can be very stressful. If things are looking grim during your search just remember that your dream dress is out there and it is up to you to find it.
  • If you feel all hope is lost and cannot find a dress you like consider having a dress custom made for you.
  • Wedding dresses can be extremely expensive; consider buying a formal dress that you can wear again on special occasions.
