Things You'll Need:
- you will need a crescent wrench
- a flat head screw driver
- a patch kit, which usually includes: a metal sander, various sized patches and rubber cement.
-
Step 1
The first thing to do is flip the bike over, so it is sitting on the handle bars and the seat. Next loosen the nuts using the crescent wrench.
-
Step 2
Now if you have pad brakes you will have to loosen those to be able to pull the tire from the frame. Once the tire is off the frame you will need to use the flat head screw driver to pry under the rim to pull the tire off the rim.
-
Step 3
After you have the tube , fill it with air and cover the whole tube with water and soap. The soap will bubble if there is a hole in the tube. Now that you have located the hole, dry it as best as possible.
-
Step 4
Then take the metal sander and to scratch the tube over the tube in an area a little bigger than the patch. This helps the glue bind to the tube and patch. Now you are ready to apply a thin layer of glue over the area you sanded. Usually have to wait 60 sec. to allow the glue to dry ; but not completely it will be a little sticky.
-
Step 5
Next press the patch over the glued area and hold for about thirty seconds. Next put a be and line it inside of the tire and the rim making sure that the valve of the tube in inserted into the rim place the tire/tube over the rim and push the tire/tube back underneath the lip of the rim.
-
Step 6
After the tire is completely together fill it with the proper amount of air and put in back on the bike making sure the nuts are tight and the brakes put back together.
