How to Use Margins in Microsoft Word 2003
The standard margins vary for different types of documents. The default margins in Microsoft Word 2003 are set at 1 inch on all sides. When fitting information on the fewest pages is key, smaller margins are used. For example, to make your resume fit on one page, you may need to shrink the margins to 0.5 inches on all sides. However, if you are using a highly formal academic format, such as Chicago style, you may need larger margins for binding or for a professor's comments.
