How to Prevent Car Stereo Theft
Car stereo theft is an unfortunate fact of life for many car owners. Thieves seem to be willing to go to greater and greater lengths to get at these expensive devices, which means that it's now more important than ever to take the proper precautions. In addition, insurance companies are often reluctant to reimburse owners for this type of loss so most likely it is entirely up to you to protect your valuable possessions.

1
Buy a car alarm sticker. Even without the actual alarm these visual warnings are a very effective deterrent against theft. They often sell on eBay for around five dollars, which is well worth the investment.

2
Remove your stereo's faceplate when you leave your vehicle. Almost all car stereos have a removable faceplate now, so there is no excuse not to be utilizing this feature.

3
Park your car in a highly visible and well populated area. Make sure that the spot is well lit, particularly at night, and that there are no large vehicles nearby such as a van or truck that might block the view of a potential onlooker.

Tips & Warnings
If these steps fail to prevent theft you may consider reinstalling the car's factory stereo. While this may not be the ideal solution it will at least decrease the likelihood that someone will break into your car.
