How to Replace the Print Head of a Canon

Canon U.S.A. manufactures computer printers for the home user, the small-business user and also for printing professionals. After much use, these printers require maintenance to keep output pages clean and with good print quality. The print head is a major component in the ink delivery system. When the print head wears out or gets clogged, poor print quality results. Maintenance can be performed on the printer to try to clean the print head, but eventually, the print head will require replacement.

Instructions

1. Open the top cover of the Canon printer. The print carriage will then move to the center position.

2. 

   Press the tab on each ink cartridge, then lift the cartidges out.

3. Raise the lock lever, then lift the old print head out of its cradle.

4. Remove the new print head from its packing material, then place it into the cradle in the same orientation as the old one had been.

5. Lower the lock lever until it snaps into place, then reinsert the ink cartridges.

6. Perform the Printer Head Alignment adjustment in the printer's maintenance utility.
