cut kid's bangs---Back to School Bangs

How to cut a little girl's bangs. This is a step by step guide on how much hair to cut and facial guidelines to use when cutting your little girl's bangs!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • scissors, spray bottle for water, a cutting comb, a cape or towel.
  1. Step 1
    Set up is important!
    Set up is important!

Your little girl needs to be seated up high so you are eye level with her face. This will make it much easier to see what you are doing. Sitting her on a table may be a great option. Make sure the seating area is clutter free so she isn't tempted to grab for items. It may also help to have her facing a TV with cartoons on.

  2. Step 2
    Really wet hair!
    Really wet hair!

Wet the hair. The easiest solution is to do this right after bath time while all of the hair is really wet. If not, then use a spray bottle and wet the hair. Comb thru.

  3. Step 3
    Shake your head
    Shake your head

Next have your little girl shake her head from side to side like she is doing the "no" motion. Watch how it naturally falls. It is better to go with the natural growth of the hair than to fight it!

  4. Step 4
    Triangle guide.
    Triangle guide.

Comb hair forward 1" from the hairline. Do not start any further back. Now find the spot directly in the middle. To figure how wide to go, use the center of each eye as your guide. This may seem very thin, but you will be surprised. So visualize a triangle. The center of 1" back from the hairline to the center of eye and center of eye. Comb this section down. Comb down to the end of the nose and cut. You can always go shorter. On many kids, the bridge of the nose works well. Just remember that some kids hair really springs up, so start long!

  5. Step 5
    Layering option!
    Layering option!

If you want layers in the bangs so they are not so blunt then do these steps. Comb whole bang section straight up from head. Stand on the side of the child. Look at the pieces closest to the hairline. This is your guide. This is the shortest piece, do not cut it. Visualize a line going straight across and cut. Now stand directly behind the child and hold the hair straight up from the head but from side to side. Trim anything that doesn't match up.

  6. Step 6
    Great job!

Now, simply comb the bangs down and blowdry if desired! Great job! You did it!
