Bed bug bites are small bumps that are very itchy. If you have been bitten by bed bugs it is very important to stop the itch because scratching can lead to secondary skin infection. When a bed bug bite is scratched it leaves the skin open with little or no protection from other bacteria and organism to enter. When the bacteria gets into the scratch an infection can develop.

      Buy Vitamin C tablets and crush 6 to 8 tablets into a powder using the back of a spoon or a mortar and pestle. Add a little water to make a paste and apply directly to the bed bug bites.

      Apply Tea Tree essential oil to the bed bug bites. Tea Tree oil will help to stop the itching and it is also a natural disinfectant. Basil Essential oil will also relieve the itch. Essential oils are available at health food stores. Always buy a good quality essential oil.

      Apply a paste made of baking soda and water to the bed bug bites. The baking soda will help reduce the inflammation and stop the itch.

      Take an over the counter antihistamine such as Benadryl. Follow the package directions for proper dosage. Apply a topical antihistamine such as Caladryl. Both are available at a pharmacy.

      See your doctor. If home remedies or over the counter remedies don't work, or if your reaction to a bed bug bite is severe see your doctor. Your doctor can prescribe medication to stop the itch.
