Step 1
The first thing you will need to do before you begin to house train your dog or puppy is to get a size appropriate kennel. Place the kennel where you can interact with the dog and he won't be ignored.

Take the dog outside to do his business before you put him in the kennel. Be sure to give him plenty of time outside and praise any success. If he doesn't go in a reasonable amount of time, place him back in the kennel and try again in 15 or 20 minutes.

Step 3
Playtime and bonding is important while training too, so play with the puppy outside of the kennel, but always take him outside before putting him back in the kennel. In other words, keep him in the kennel unless you are playing with him, he is eating or he is outside.

Step 4
This method of teaching your dog the proper place to eliminate takes 2 to 3 weeks and is a great way to avoid accidents in the house which only confuse the dog and frustrate the owner. Good luck and enjoy man's best friend!
