Step 1
To keep your money safe when traveling, do not keep it all on your person. The money you do keep on your body, do not keep it all in one place. The shoe or sock is an excellent place to keep some money safe when you travel.
-
Step 2
Pre pay all that you can before leaving home, so you have less money and it will be so much safer with as many transactions taken care of before travel has even started. Pay with credit card since this will save you money in foreign travels.
-
Step 3
Make a list of all your travelers checks before you leave for your travel plans. A duplicate copy can be given to another travel companion if there is one. Otherwise leave that duplicate in a secure place such as a hotel safe or room safe.
-
Step 4
Keep most of your travelers checks in a safe at a hotel or in the room safe. Do not carry all the travelers checks or the receipts with you. Disperse the receipts for the travelers checks in many places that are safe too. If you need to replace them you will have them secure in a safe.
-
Step 5
Never leave any cash or travelers checks in a suitcase. Your money will not be safe since suitcases can be carried away by hotel personnel or lost during travel excursions.
-
Step 6
Use a fanny pack or money belt to keep money safe when traveling. A purse can have the bottom cut out without you knowing until much later when all contents are gone. A fanny pack and money belt are held close to the body and in front within plain sight.
