Things You'll Need:
- Choice of spray paint
- Solvents / Abrasives (Sand paper)
- Safety equipment (Safety glasses, respirator, gloves)
- Plastic tarp
- Coat Hanger
- Well ventilated area

Step 1
The first thing you need to do is decide which kind of spray paint you are going to use. There are many different colors to choose from including metallics. You can use this guide for reference with any of them but you will have to follow the manufacturer's instructions for preparing the surface (This can range from wiping it down with soapy water to sandblasting and wiping with strong solvents). So, get your surface prepared and meet me at the next step!

Step 2
Have your bumper surface prepped? Excellent! The next thing you want to do is get your equipment into your well ventilated space ( I use my garace with the door opened a little, not too much because I don't want debris blowing into my painted bumper). Spread your plast tarp below where you will be painting. Use the coat hanger to suspend the bumper lenghwise. Put on all of your safety equipment and meet me at the next step!

Step 3
Fantastic, now we are ready to paint. Take the paint of your choice and while holding the can about 6 to 12 inches away from the surace of the bumper make long strokes with your arm left to right across the bumper surface. If you start to notice globs of paint you are too close, or not moving your hand fast enough. Don't worry if you see spots the first time through. Let it set and dry for about 15 minutes then repeat the process. Do this as many times as you need to get nice even coverage.
