Naturally Get Rid of Fire Ants

Fire ants are a nuisance for everybody. Below is three sure ways to get rid of those pesky little creatures for good.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you want to do it and do it with the least amount of damage and damage to your yard, try to doing the “scoop method”. This however, is not easy and if not done right can cause the person trying it, could get stung. If you have more than one group of fire ants; try scooping or shoveling one group and pouring it on another group of fire ants. It is said that both of these groups when mixed will kill off the other group. I have not tried this but know several farmers who use this method.

  2. Step 2

The second and safe way is to get a large pot of boiling water, make sure it is at least 2 and half gallons of water. It does not have to be “boiling” water but it must be hot. Pour the water on the top of the ant mound to kill the colony. Remember: do not allow the hot water to get on any plants that you want to keep, it could kill them.

  3. Step 3

The last way is using powdered laundry detergent; I don’t recommend this if you have dogs and cats. But you can try getting a friendly “greener” detergent. The powered laundry detergent is effective because it actually suffocates the ants. This sound horrible and I know PETA people will cringe but you at least you don’t have to worry about them leaving this colony and starting another colony. If there are any PETA people reading this and they know of a better way; please feel free to share it below in the comments section.
