Step 1
Start shopping early... Even if you aren't serious with anyone always have an eye open on clearance racks and yard sales. You can find items that are always necessary at weddings whether you know colors or not. Guest books, cake servers, glasses, table favors, can all be found off season on the clearance aisles or at yard sales so read those local newspapers.
-
Step 2
If you know the colors start watching for clearance balloons, decorations etc. If you are having a December wedding or February wedding shop after Christmas and Valentines for red and white flowers, balloons, etc. Same if your colors are brown, orange, naturals, shop after Thanksgiving.

Step 3
Location? Your home church will sometimes let you use their facilities for free. Consider an at home wedding if someone in your family has the space and resources. You can even save on the official if your pastor or someone in your family will agree to officiate the ceremony.

Step 4
Rehearsal dinner: If the church you have chosen has a reception hall or life center facilities start there. Have both sides of the bride and groom and bridal party all pitch in to bring food and make it a more relaxed atmosphere since the next day is going to be stressful.
Don't forget to enjoy your planning whether you are collecting for your hope chest or planning the big day!
