Step 1
Become proficient in the use of Quickbooks.
Obviously, this is a requirement. If you have Quickbooks experience already, great. But if you are a beginner or your Quickbooks education has some holes, take one of the many Quickbooks courses that exist either online or through schools. -
Step 2
Consider becoming Quickbooks Certified.
Quickbooks offers a certification that will demonstrate to clients that you know how to use Quickbooks and are serious about your business. You can obtain a Quickbooks certification online or by contacting community colleges, etc. in your area. Many of them offer the coursework. -
Step 3
Determine your rates.
Charging an hourly rate is common for consulting businesses. If you are unsure what rate to charge, check with other accounting, bookkeeping and Quickbooks consulting businesses in your area. -
Step 4
Begin marketing your business.
Word of mouth is best. If you are already running an accounting or bookkeeping business you might let your current clients know that you now offer Quickbooks consulting as one of your services.
Other free marketing methods include contacting accountants who have clients in need of Quickbooks consulting and advertising on Craigslist.
