Instructions

Add volume to the hair with a professionally applied perm or body wave. These two procedures are done by a hair stylist at a salon, and will give the hair "natural" volume for six to eight weeks. The perm will shorten the length of the hair; therefore, check with your stylist to see how short your hair can be before applying the perm. Body waves are ideal for any hair length because the procedure will give your hair waves and volume versus perm curls.

Wash your hair in cool water while showering. Hot water will blow open the cuticle and cause the hair to fall flat. When showering, simply saturate the head with cool water, wash and rinse in cool water. You can shower in warm water; however, when rinsing your head, simply turn the nozzle to the cooler temperature.

Skip adding conditioner to your locks. This will only weigh down long, thin hair. Opt for a volumizing shampoo instead. Apply once a day, or every other day, for the best results.

Cut your hair into a blunt bob to give the illusion of thicker hair. While bangs are not necessary to create the illusion of thick hair, it helps to add to the style. The hair around your face, whether it is bangs or side layers, should be face-framing to look thicker.

Beat one or two eggs in a bowl and apply to your locks. If your hair is dull, limp and thin, you can put basic nutrients back in the hair with eggs. Apply the beaten egg to the hair and leave in for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse in cool water. Continue the process for a few days.

Blow-dry your hair upside down to give volume to the hair. Apply a root-lifting serum to the hair and towel dry until damp. Flip your head upside down and blow-dry with medium heat. Use your fingers to "brush" through your hair while drying. Avoid using a hairbrush to brush through while drying; this will only flatten hair instead of volumizing.
