Have a wood-burning stove and the glass doors are black with soot and you can not get them clean? I'll show you how to clean them in a jiffy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • quart size bowl
  • warm water
  • soft cloth
  • glass cleaner
  1. Step 1

in a quart size bowl add about a cup of warm water. add a drop of dish soap to the water to help it be softer water. Mix enough ash from the fire place to make a paste about the consistency of loose mud.

  2. Step 2

with a soft cloth take some of the ash mixture and rub directly on the soot that you wish to remove from the inside of the fireplace glass door and rub in a circular motion with enough pressure to loosen the soot. With little effort you will see the soot just melting away and the clear glass will once again show through. Continue until all the soot is removed and move to the next door and repeat process.

  3. Step 3

Use any household glass cleaner to finish the cleaning process and made the glass sparkle like new.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure the fire is completely out and the ash is cool to avoid injury.
  • Always wear safety glasses
  • protective gloves or rubber gloves would be highly suggested for this procedure
  • Place a drop cloth under the doors to avoid staining the hearth or the flooring.
  • Do not mix any cleaning products with the ash mixture.
  • Be sure to keep pets and children away while working with your wood burning stove.
