This is a guide on how to make a semi-spicy, flavorful, savory-sweet BBQ dry rub. This rub is good for all meats, including fish and even lamb. Actually, this rub would probably be good on cereal but I'm not going to try it .....yet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Chili powder (not Chile')
  • Brown sugar
  • Kosher salt (larger crystals helps tenderize meat)
  • Black pepper
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  1. Step 1

The core of this recipe is simple:
    8 parts brown sugar
    5 parts kosher salt
    3 parts chili powder
    1 part everything else

  2. Step 2

The parts can be whatever measurement you want, as long as you keep it the same across the recipe. So if you use a tablespoon as your measurement, stay with the tbsp. till you are done. If that didn't make enough, try and use a 1/4 cup.

  3. Step 3

The last part, isn't 1 part of each item left, its 1 part made up of equal amounts of the rest of the ingredients.

  4. Step 4

shake up well in a zip loc bag. Stores at room temp for about 6 months.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can add cayenne to this to boost the heat. Just be careful not to add too much or you risk sacrificing flavor.
