You will learn how to spool fishing line for different types of reels.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pole with reel
  • Line
  • Pencil
  • Maybe another person
  1. Step 1

    For a spinning reel:

1)Lay the spool on the floor with the label up.

2)Tie the line to the reel. Make sure the line is not twisted and is tied securely to the reel, if not, it could cause headaches for you.

    3) Wind the line onto the reel 10 cranks and check for line twist - if twisting occurs turn the spool over and fill to 1/8" from spool rim. If you need to do this step, you'll have to go back and redo the rest of it to make sure the twisting is taken care of.

    4) Do not overfill spool.

  2. Step 2

    For a baitcasting reel:
    1) Insert a pencil through the center of the spool.

    2) Tie the line to the reel arbor.

    3) Have someone hold both ends of the pencil and apply tension while you wind the line on the reel.

    4) Fill within 1/8" of the reel rim.

    5) Do not overfill spool.

  3. Step 3

    Good Luck!
