There is an easy way to repair small scratches and holes on laminate wood floors. You just need the right products: a good patch and a good wood marker or crayon.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Laminate floor repair kit
  • Wet cloth
  1. Step 1

In the picture above, there were two small holes in the molding made from nails. Can you see where they were?

You will need a laminate floor repair kit with a patch filler and wood marker. Shown is an example. You can also buy similar products separately.

  3. Step 3

Add a patch or filler in the scratch or hole. Try not to put too much patch around the hole. The goal is to limit the amount of work removing the excess but leaving enough to just cover the cavity. Here is a hole in a laminate wood trim made by a nail.

  4. Step 4

Wait a few hours for the patch or filler to dry. When dry, use a damp (not too wet) cloth to rub off the excess patch.

  5. Step 5

If the patch already matches the wood, your work is done. If not, use the crayon or wood marker with the matching color of the wood laminate to write over the patch.

  6. Step 6

You can use the patch to fill in gaps such as the corner of these two laminate molding or trim.

Tips & Warnings
  • After you have completed a laminate wood laying project, take care of the patching while there is no furniture. You can see mistakes much easier and nothing will be in the way.
  • Get a sample piece of wood so you can accurately match the color in the store.
