Green Rubber Band Ball

Rubber Band balls are fun and easy. You can see them in offices, or you can even have them in your child's bedroom. Here's a new take on the old Rubber Band Ball idea.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Toy, Super-ball size ball, or other small Keepsake
  • Foil/Paper/etc. (optional if using a ball-shaped item)
  • Rubber Bands
  1. Step 1

Take your Toy or Keepsake that you have chosen (this can be anything you'd like - but you might want to choose something inexpensive), and place this item in the middle of a piece of foil or paper and wrap it in a shape as close to a round ball as possible. If you used a ball or a ball-shaped item, such as a fun super-ball of any size, you can just use it as-is.

  2. Step 2

Wrap your first rubber band around your "ball" - depending on the size of the rubber band - and the size of your "ball" - you may need to wrap the rubber band around the core several times to begin with. Take another rubber band and wrap this around your "ball" and the first rubber band - usually at a 45-90 degree angle from the previous rubber band.

  3. Step 3

Continue the previous step until you have created the size of the rubber band ball you would like. Be sure to alternate where you wrap the new rubber bands to ensure an even, round shape.

  4. Step 4

Once you have created your rubber band ball, you can bounce it around for fun, or use as a distraction from stress (or to help you think), or - once the rubber bands have been used or removed from the "ball", a new "treasure" can be found!

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure that the item you use as the core of the rubber band ball is inexpensive, since the rubber band ball may inadvertently be thrown out, or lost - particularly if given as a gift.
  • This is a fun activity for both children and adults - as an afternoon activity, a Birthday party or other occasions.
  • This is a particularly useful when you have several rubber bands lying around from newspapers, mail, etc. to keep them in a tidier fashion.
  • If you use foil as your inner-ball, be careful of how much foil you use if you plan to take the rubber band ball with you on a trip - it may set off metal detectors.
  • Rubber bands may snap at any time. Be prepared to be snapped on occasion.
