RC AIRPLANE P-40 WARHAWK
RC AIRPLANE P-40 WARHAWK

I have taught over 300 students how to fly rc airplanes. 75% of students went on to fly on their own. I will show you how i did it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
    Simulator package

    Simulator package

Purchase a simulator package, many on the market. I recommend an airplane/helicopter simulator for future training on helicopters

  2. Step 2
    sample screen shot of simulator

    sample screen shot of simulator

Practice on simulator for 2 weeks
you must pass this test on simulator before touching a real plane
    1-take off on runway
2-fly around in circle, and figure 8 patterns
    3-land on runway
if you cannot do this on simulator, you must practice until you can

take off -flying- and landing on runway are all required

  3. Step 3
High wing aircraft with resar mounted engine

High wing aircraft with resar mounted engine

Purchase an aircraft. you should buy an inexpensive electric flyer to start. Foam construction always best for easy repairs. high wing aircraft are easiest to fly because they have slow and stable flight characteristics. Rear mounted engines will prevent damage during crash landing.

  4. Step 4

Go to a local flying club, or find an instructor that will fly with you. You will need a buddy box. Many flight clubs have instructors with flight buddy box' s. If not you will need to purchase. The buddy box will allow both student and instructor to fly the same plane at once.

  5. Step 5

After you have learned the basics and can fly solo new aircraft can be flown. The next step would a front engine mounted airplane, with faster speed with more maneuverability. A foam park flyer Cessna would be a perfect second plane.

  6. Step 6

A 3rd type of aircraft can be a low wing wood type model. Wood is more rigid then foam for high performance flying. Rolls, loops, and other acrobatics can be performed at this level.

  7. Step 7

A 4th type of aircraft can be Jet EDF planes. These electric jets can reach speeds of 100+mph. At these speeds pilots think 4-5 seconds in advance in order to perform turns, loops, or any other change in flight.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use foam safe epoxy glue to make all your repairs on foam trainers. some glues cures in 10 minutes making field repairs easy. other cure in 1 hour making more severe repairs easy at home. Foam trainers can have over 100 repairs before getting too heavy for flight
  • Never fly in small fields with people or animals. Fly in the largest field possible. Plot your flight course including take-off and landings. Wear sunglasses.
