      To stop bulk mailings such as newspapers or coupon papers, just affix a simple note on the inside flap or lid or your mailbox that says "No bulk mail please." Even banks of multiple mailboxes have small hinged tabs inside the lock box toward the back. Attach your little note to this and put the tab in the "up" position. Most postmen will honor this request, and you'll notice the difference immediately.

      Block the porn an explicit materials. To do this, download the US Postal Service application 1500 from the link in the References section. Submit it to your local post office and anything you deem explicit will be filtered out of your mail delivery.

      To winnow your first class junk mail, just X out the address and barcode and write, "REFUSED: Return to Sender" The post office will return it to the sender and eventually, the sender will omit your name from their mailing list.

      Cut the card offers. If you're being plagued with credit card offers, make a call to the consumer credit reporting agency opt out number: 1-888-567-8688. You will be asked to provide your Social Security number and last two years of residence information.

      This call reports to all the credit agencies and will stop the card offers to your address.

      To stop local business and supermarket flyers, note that each loose-leaf bundle of flyers must be accompanied by an address card.

      The address card sometimes looks like a missing children flyer. Locate the address card and identify the sender. Then you can call the sender and request they remove your address from their mailing lists.
