Things You'll Need:
- Amplifier
- Speakers
- Wiring Kit
- Wire Cutters
- Wire Strippers
- Wire Crimpers

Step 1
First off, you will need to select the amplifier that works best for you. There are many choices when amplifier shopping. You must decide which one is best. There are Multi channel amps for powering multiple speakers at once , mono amps for powering subwoofers, and 2 channel stereo amps for running one pair of stereo speakers.
-
Step 2
Once you have your amp selected, you need to purchase the necessary wiring to complete the install. You will need a power wire sufficient to feed the amp, fuse and fuse holder, RCA (Patch cable) or line out converter, speaker wire, a length of 16 gauge wire for remote turn on, and a selection of wire connections.
-
Step 3
Find a suitable location for your amp. In a car, the trunk area is ideal. Otherwise, under or behind a seat will work. Be sure to mount the amp where it can have proper ventilation. Secure the amp with screws or two sided tape, so it can't slide around.
-
Step 4
If you have an aftermarket head unit, connect the length of remote wire to the remote turn on circuit in your radios harness (Usually a blue or blue with white stripe wire). Next, connect your RCA cables to the jacks on your head unit. Make these connections on the amplifier side as well.
-
Step 5
Next, connect your power wire to the vehicles battery. Be certain to remove the fuse from your fuse holder until all connections are complete. TIP: It's best to run the power wire separately from your RCA cable and remote turn on to prevent unwanted noise from your amp. Finish the power wire install by attaching it to your amplifier, being sure to not allow the power wire to be rubbed, cut, or otherwise damaged. Find a suitable spot to connect your ground wire. It's best to have a ground wire the same size or bigger as your power wire. Always connect to a clean, paint free spot for a good connection.
-
Step 6
Lastly, connect your speaker wires to the speakers you wish to power. You can now install the fuse in the fuse holder. It's usually best to start with the gain, bass boost and crossover levels turned down so as not to damage your speakers. Enjoy!
