Make your own beaded wrist watches with a watch face you can find at your craft store or in your jewelry box and beads to coordinate with your favorite styles. This simple jewelry project will take only minutes to complete, after you’ve decided on a design. Make a wrist watch for every occasion with Swarovski crystals for elegant evenings or wooden beads for a casual outing.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Watch Face Measuring tape Beads- 4 to 6-mm crystals and matching seed beads Scissors Clasp
  1. Step 1

Select a watch face from your local craft store, or use one you have, just remove the watchband. Your watch face will likely have four corner openings, or a single bar along both sides to connect the band. You can work with any type of design; just alter your beaded watch band design to fit the watch face.

  2. Step 2

Measure your wrist size and cut four sections of stretchy beading cord to fit the length if your watch face has four corner connectors. If your watch face has a bar, cut two lengths of stretchy beading cord twice as long as your wrist measurement.

  3. Step 3

Thread one of the cut cords halfway through one of the corner connectors. Hold the ends together to make a double strand. Thread beads in any design you like onto the double strand. Leave about 1/2-inch at the end to add your clasp and knot the cording to keep the beads in place. Repeat this step for all four corners.

  4. Step 4

Make a beaded wrist band for the bar style watch face by wrapping the stretch cording around the end of the bar at the halfway point. Thread seed beads or small crystal beads onto the cord for the length of the bar. Wrap the elastic around the other end of the bar and thread both sides of the strand, leaving about ½-inch at the ends for the clasp. Repeat this process on both sides of the watch face.

  5. Step 5

Add the clasp to both ends of the elastic cording with a simple double knot. Cut off the excess cording.

Tips & Warnings
  • Design your beaded wrist watches with a mixture of crystals and wooden beads for an eclectic style. You could also make your own clay beads for a personalized wrist watch design.
