Learn how to spit shine your boots/shoes!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Horse hair brush
  • Kiwi shoe polish
  • Soft cotton cloth
  • Some good ol' fashion mucus
  • Lighter or Hair Dryer
  • Some cotton balls
  1. Step 1

Clean any excess dirt or debris off of your boots using a horse hair brush. Now use a moist cloth to clean off any smaller particles.

  2. Step 2

Apply a small amount of Kiwi shoe polish on a soft cotton cloth. Use either an old T-Shirt or an old sock. Typically the cloths you can buy that are made specifically for shining shoes don't do as good a job as an ordinary, old white t-shirt.

  3. Step 3

Gently work the Kiwi shoe polish into the boot in small circular motions. Keep doing this until the polish is worked into the boot and the circular motions become more difficult. Don't worry if you can see circular patterns on the boot or shoe, these will go away!

  4. Step 4

Let dry for at least two minutes.

  5. Step 5

Once dry, use a hair dryer or a lighter to heat the shoe or boot where the polish was applied. Apply heat until you see the boot begin to shine. The boot will then fade back to the way it was once the heat source is gone.

  6. Step 6

Vigorously brush the boots using your horse hair brush (the finer the brush the better for this part). Do this repeatedly until you get the desired shine.

  7. Step 7

For extra shine take your cotton balls and mist them with a little warm water (spit works better due to the enzymes). Now apply a very very small amount of polish to the damp cotton ball. Apply the polish to the boot again in circular motions. Spit on the boot if more moisture is needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • For even further shine repeat the last step using Kiwi Parade Gloss. However, be aware that parade gloss tends to crack!
  • Be careful if you use a lighter, a hair dryer is much safer then using an open flame, and actually does a better job due to more even heat distribution.
