Making a coyote call from a cow horn. First thing is to visit your local farmer to obtain the needed cow horn.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cow Horn
  • Knife/ dremel Tool
  • Rope
  1. Step 1

Let's start by hollowing out the cow horn lengthwise using the knife or the dremel tool. Make sure to hollow it all the way through. You should leave roughly a 1/4" rim.

It is important to make your horn hollowed out consistently and smooth.

  2. Step 2

After the horn has been hollowed out, take the knife and flatten out the small end slightly. Becareful not to take to much off, just enough to create a mouthpiece. By doing this it will make it more comfortable to use.

  3. Step 3

Find the middle of your rope. Lay the horn in the center after placing a touch of glue then wrap the rope a couple of times, each time gluing the rope to the horn. This technique is similar to the leather which would be wrappd around the handle of some knives. When you have finished this tie the two ends together to create a strap. You can make the strap long enough to wear around your neck or small enough to hang by your wrist. The choice is yours.

  4. Step 4

You may choose to paint your horn to allow for better concealing.
