How many times have we purchased wood furniture and someone sets a wet glass right on the wood leaving a nasty white ring? Maybe it was an antique piece, or a treasure table that has been passed down from family to family. There a number of good ways to remove those water marks that is easy with just a little elbow work.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 Soft clothes
  • Tinted furniture oil or wax
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 1 oz paraffin wax
  1. Step 1

Gently heat olive oil in a pan. Stir in pieces of paraffin wax. Blend until melted completely. Allow to cool just a bit. The wax needs to be warm and soft, but not hot enough to scorch or burn.

  2. Step 2

With the soft cloth, rub the mixture sparingly into the affected area. Leave wax on sport for about an hour.

  3. Step 3

Rub off the excess wax with a clean soft rag. Repeat as many times as need to lighten the affected area.

  4. Step 4

Gentle run tinted furniture wax into the area and buff.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure your wax is cooled before applying to wood surface. You want it warm, but not so hot it will burn.

on 8/18/2009 I have white water spots on my mahogany buffet. I have always used beeswax on my furniture. I like the idea of olive oil and wax. Sounds good to me!
