Changing a diaper on a girl is different from changing a diaper on a boy, this article will help you to change a diaper on a baby girl.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • clean diaper
  • baby wipes
  • changing pad (optional)
  • baby bottom ointment (optional)
  • trash bag (optional)
  1. Step 1

First, lay down changing pad if using. If not using changing pad, go on to step 2.

  2. Step 2

Lay child down on back and undo clothing that is covering the diaper. Undo diaper tabs.

  3. Step 3

Here is where things get different. Wipe front to back trying to clean up as much feces or urine as possible. Make sure to clean between private parts. You may lift legs slightly if needed to clean the backside of the baby.

  4. Step 4

Roll diaper front to back to create a sort of ball which you can now place dirty wipes into. Replace diaper tabs on diaper to create a sealed ball.

  5. Step 5

Quickly replace new diaper, making sure pull tabs are on the back side of the baby so that they will open to the front of the diaper. Apply ointment if needed. Place diaper in trash bag if using, then place trash bag in neared trash bin.

Tips & Warnings
  • The reason you wipe from front to back is to keep bacteria from feces from entering the vagina and causing yeast infections.
  • It's also not recommended to use baby powder on girls because this can lead to yeast infections and urinary tract infections.
  • If in a public place, it is not recommended to not change child on a changing pad for contamination purposes.
