Flat pencil? Won't fit into pencil sharpener. What do you do? Well I can help with that. You will be a professional flat pencil sharpener once you are completed with this explanation.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Utility knife
  • Carpenter Pencil
  1. Step 1

Take your flat pencil in hand with the edge that you want to sharpen pointing out. Usually the wording is at the top of the pencil.

  2. Step 2

Place knife blade onto wood, hold knife at angle and push the blade to the end of pencil.

  3. Step 3

Work your way around the pencil until you have the lead exposed. Then take the blade and shave the lead down to a flat point. Don't over sharpen to a point this will make the lead break when you use the pencil. An oblong lead shape is the best.

  4. Step 4

If you would like a double sided sharpened pencil repeat the steps above. Now you have a nice sharpened flat pencil that you can use from both ends.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use sharp knife blade.
  • Hold and push away from body.
