Step 1
Wait to get your tree until you have the time to do it and enjoy it. If you have small children make sure they are fed and well rested before you head out. This will make it a lot more fun for everyone.
-
Step 2
Pack the following items: Winter Wear, a saw if you have one so you know that it is sharp (most cut your own places provide them otherwise, camera.
-
Step 3
As you wander through take into consideration the height. The trees look a lot smaller in the field then they do in your living room. Find one that does not have many brown needles. Check carefully for them around the base. If you do not like the prickly needles check to see what is available in your area and feel free to touch the needles to test.
-
Step 4
Take a picture before you cut the tree. Have the family stand in front of the tree for the picture. If you do this every year you will have something nice to look back on. This is especially nice with children.
-
Step 5
Cut the tree and lay it on the tarp. The tarp makes it easier to drag and it is better for the tree.
-
Step 6
Load it up. Many places can assist you in this. Tips are not required but are a nice gesture especially around this time of year.
