This is a quick and smart way to transfer images to polymer clay. If you do not have a laser printer, you can put the image on a disc and have it printed at a printing center, like Kinko's. If you go to a printing center, bring your parchment paper.

The Image you select can be in color or be black and white. You can do a line drawing or a photograph with this technique.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Polymer Clay - preferably light in color
  • Parchment Paper
  • Laser jet printer (or go to Kinkos)
  • Spoon
  1. Step 1

Choose an image. You can scan a photograph onto your computer or you can use an image from the internet. If you use an internet image, make sure it is Royalty free!

  2. Step 2

Cut a piece of parchment paper the size of printing paper (8 1/2" x 11"). Parchment paper is used in baking and can be found near the aluminum foil.

  3. Step 3

Insert the paper into the printer and print the image.

  4. Step 4

Condition your clay and roll out a section where the transfer will be.

  5. Step 5

Place the transfer printed side down onto the clay and rub the paper with the back of a spoon in small circles with light even pressure, making sure to rub every part of the image.

  6. Step 6

After 2 minutes, slowly pick up a corner of the paper to see if the image is transferring to the clay.
If it is, quickly rip off the paper like a band-aid.
If not, continue to rub until the image is on the clay.

  7. Step 7

Cure the clay in the oven according to manufacturers instructions.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not rub the spoon too hard or you will dent or groove the clay
