How to remove the burnt taste and smell from Rice

Rice is in the grass family and is therefore a cereal grain. However, during it's processes it is cultivated for human consumption. In most countries it is an important staple food. Rice can be used in every day meals from just plain rice to being added into your favorite sushi. It's fantastic until it's burnt and the taste and smell can be awful.

There are ways in which you can remove the smell of burnt rice and continue with your favorite dish.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • rice
  • bread
  • water
  • pot
  1. Step 1

    First, prepare your rice as normal. Some people use the old fashion method of cooking rice in a regular stock pot. Some people cook rice in a rice cooker. Rice cookers will be the hardest method of burning rice, but I guess it can be done.

    Secondly, you notice a burnt smell from the kitchen. Oh no! ! The rice is burnt. Not to worry, go to your bread storage area and take our one slice of bread.

    Next, open the pot of cooked rice and remove any burnt pieces of rice than you can visually see.

    Lastly, place one slice of bread on top of the burnt rice. Close the lid and come back in 5-10 minutes and taste the rice. You will notice the burnt taste is gone.

  5. Step 5

    Don't eat the slice of bread that was used to remove the burnt taste and smell. Discard the bread in the trash.

Tips & Warnings
  • This method may not work well if the rice has been burnt to a crisp and is no longer salvageable. Use your better judgment.
