Common marinades are made with citrus, vinegar or wine.

Marinating can take up a lot of time, but it's worth it for the flavor and tenderness it adds to your chicken. It's easy if you prep the chicken ahead of time and refrigerate or freeze it until needed. If you freeze it, the chicken will absorb the marinade as it thaws. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase chicken and divide into serving sizes appropriate for your family.

    • 2

Tenderize chicken using meat tenderizer. If you do not own a meat tenderizer, a fork will do. Make sure to tenderize both sides.

    • 3

Place chicken in freezer bag and pour enough marinade in to cover the chicken. Shake the bag to make sure marinade is evenly distributed.

    • 4

Seal the freezer bag, and mark with date and type of marinade. Make sure you use a permanent marker and that it is dry before you place the chicken in the freezer. Then place the chicken in the refrigerator or freezer until needed.

    • 5

If frozen, remove from freezer the day you plan to use it. The marinade will soak into the chicken as it thaws. The chicken will have a great taste without having to be basted while it is in the oven or on the grill.

Tips & Warnings

  • Buy chicken in bulk and freeze enough for multiple meals.

  • Use any meat you would normally marinade.
