Crafting with rubber stamps makes creating handmade cards, jewelry and other crafts simple. You can stamp a design on cardstock to make a handmade card or into polymer clay to craft a handmade pendant for a necklace. Embellish your handmade cards with buttons, ribbons or strips of wrapping paper or paint details on your clay pendant to create one-of-a-kind gifts.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stamps and ink
  • Cardstock
  • Scissors and scrapbooking scissors
  • Double-sided tape and foam tape
  • Polymer clay
  • Clay knife
  • Knitting needle
  • Baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil
  • Future Floor Polish
  • Leather cording

    Handmade Cards

  1. Step 1

Fold a sheet of cardstock in half horizontally or vertically, whichever way you prefer to make your card. Trim around the edges with scrapbooking scissors to create a design, or leave the edges straight.

  2. Step 2

Write your message on the inside of the card, or print a scripted verse onto cardstock with your computer printer. Make sure the verse is sized appropriately for the card. You can also find stamps with inspirational messages that you can stamp straight onto the cardstock.

  3. Step 3

Decorate the card front with any stamp you like, but stamp it onto a different piece of cardstock that color coordinates with your handmade card. Cut out the stamped design with scrapbooking scissors for a patterned edge or with straight scissors. Emboss your stamped design with embossing powder and a heat gun, or sprinkle a small amount of glitter on the ink before it dries. Let the stamped design dry.

  4. Step 4

Attach double-sided foam strips around the perimeter of the back of your design and place it on the front of the card.

  5. Clay Pendant

  6. Step 1

Make a handmade pendant personalized for a necklace with polymer clay and a rubber stamp. Cut a small square of clay and knead it with your hands until it is soft enough to flatten. Press the clay into any flat shape that you like and that is large enough to hold the stamped design you plan to use. Do not make it too flat; it should be at least ¼-inch thick to accept the stamp.

  7. Step 2

Press the stamp into the center of the clay shape. Insert a knitting needle through the top of the clay pendant sideways so the pendant will lay flat against the neck when the neck cord is strung through it.

  8. Step 3

Bake the clay on an aluminum foil-covered cookie sheet, according to the manufacturer's instructions. When it is hard and cool, coat it with a layer of Future Floor Polish for shine and protection. Hang it on a strip of leather to make a necklace.
