How to Make Wire Necklaces With Magnetic Clasps

Magnetic clasps are a welcome addition to your supply of jewelry findings. These clasps are much easier to secure for anyone with arthritis and other inflammation conditions. Wire necklaces with magnetic clasps make great gifts for the elderly, children and anyone with joint problems.The small magnetic pieces make a firm clasp that holds a necklace in place. The circular end of the findings have plenty of room for various sizes of wire or multi-strand necklaces.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wire
  • E-size crochet hook or smaller
  • Magnetic clasps
  • Beads
  • Crimping beads
  • Crimping tool or flat nose pliers
  1. Step 1

    Choose a necklace pattern or design one of your own.

  2. Step 2

    Thread beads onto jewelry grade wire. Crochet the wire if that is the technique for the necklace pattern.desired.

  3. Step 3

    Place the necklace on a jewelry crafting board or work surface.

  4. Step 4

    Thread a crimping bead onto one wired end of the necklace.

  5. Step 5

    Separate the two parts of the magnetic clasp and move the parts away from one another.

  6. Step 6

    Insert the end of the wire into the hole in on the end of the magnetic clasp.

  7. Step 7

    Insert the end of the wire back through the crimping bead. Crimp or pinch the small bead to flatten it and secure the two wire portions within it's confines.

  8. Step 8

    Repeat Steps 4, 6 and 7 to attach the second portion of the magnetic clasp on the opposite end of the necklace. Trim excess wire from both ends near the crimped bead.
