How to Make Homemade Baby Applesauce

You will learn how to make applesauce (a Stage 1 food) for your baby.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 6-8 apples
  • apple peeler
  • food processor or blender
  • storage bags
  • strainer
  1. Step 1

    First peel, core and slice 6-8 apples. Gala or Red delicious apples work the best.

  2. Step 2

    Place apple slices in a large pot of boiling water. Boil the apples until tender. This usually takes about 5 minutes.
    You can also steam the apples until tender.

  3. Step 3

    Drain the water and place apples in a food processor or blender.

  4. Step 4

    Puree the apples until you get a smooth consistency. Add a small amount of water for a smoother consistency. You can make a chunkier applesauce for older babies.

  5. Step 5

    Poor the puree into a zip lock bag. Cut a small section off one of the bottom corners of the bag. Squeeze the applesauce into the ice cube trays.

  6. Step 6

    After the apples are frozen, remove from the ice cube trays and store in freezer bags. Make sure you write the date you made the applesauce on the outside of the freezer bags.

Tips & Warnings
  • You should wait 4-5 days before trying a new food with your baby in case of any allergies
  • Bbaby food should be kept frozen and used within 2 months of making it.
