You'll need moving boxes at various times in your life such as moving in to a new home, sending items to storage or just moving your office three floor down. Ask your family, friends and neighbors, especially if they just moved into a new place.

Go on a good old Dumpster hunt. It is getting harder to find Dumpsters that have semi-quality boxes available due to the fact that most companies now have their own cardboard trash compactor and they ship out their cardboard in bulk. Yet there are still opportunities out there to find the occasional "gold mine" of unwanted cardboard boxes.

Check your local Craigslist for posts advertising a need to get rid of moving boxes.

Visit stores (especially liquor and grocery stores) and ask a manager if you can drop by at lunch or after hours to collect empty boxes.
