With just a few simple, easy-to-repeat ideas, you can be consistently funny AND interesting using social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.

Try to incorporate funny one-liners from movies or TV shows that have something to do with news of the day, what you are doing, or what your friends are up to. Jim Carey movies and Ben Stiller movies are great for this, as are TV shows like Family Guy, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, The Office, and How I Met Your Mother.

Really clever (but not too obscure) song lyrics make you look funny AND cool. People love being the one who "gets it." So make your references fit in with your group of friends.

Use a play on words. One of my dumbest status updates (I thought) was one that got a lot of reaction as being really funny. I said, "I forgot to eat breakfast this morning and I am LACKTOAST intolerant." Hilarity ensued.

Say something that you woulnd't normally say, say something really stupid or really obvious, or say something as if you didn't mean to say it. Follow that up with another sentence that simply says, "Oh wait...". For example, on 4th of July, you could say, "_______hopes everyone safely celebrated America's independence from Britain by further indenturing ourselves to China with lots of fireworks purchases. Oh wait..."
