If you have a Breville Conical Burr Coffee Grinder model BCG450XL, you've noticed that transferring the coffee grinds to your coffee maker can be quite messy. Here's how to minimize the amount of clean-up you have to do when you use this coffee grinder.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pour your coffee beans in to the bean reservoir of your Breville BCG450XL Conical Burr Grinder. Leaving about 0.5-1.0 centimeters of space before the "fill max" line will give you enough beans for a 30-second grind. Now, GRIND!

  2. Step 2

Once it's done, put your left hand on the left side of the grinder and with your right hand, give the grinder a few good taps. This will dislodge the grinds in the shaft and make sure it goes in to the reservoir below. Otherwise, you may end up with a pile of grinds where the reservoir goes, and it's a pain to clean up.

  3. Step 3

Next is the tricky part. For minimal clean-up, the best thing to do is to hold your coffee filter holder with filter over your sink.

  4. Step 4

Then, remove the reservoir with the grinds and hold it with your right hand. Put your right index finger in the square hole in the lid so that you can lift the lid slightly with your finger alone.

  5. Step 5

Now you're ready to pour. It's all about the angle here. Tilt the reservoir towards you such that the max fill line is facing towards you. The reservoir is funny shaped, but when you do this, you utilize the shape as a chute with which to minimize the grinds flying out unexpectedly.

  6. Step 6

Finally, open the lid slightly with your index finger, and start pouring the grinds in to the coffee filter. Keep the space between the lid and the container small so that the grinds don't fly out. You can also use your left hand as a barrier on the opposite side of the coffee filter so that it catches the stray grind.
