Things You'll Need:
- Saucepan that holds the number of eggs you want with an extra 2 inches of room from the eggs to the rim
- Lid that fits the saucepan tightly
- Eggs
- Cold water
- Salt
- Timer
- Ice
-
Step 1
Place the saucepan in the sink.
-
Step 2
Fill the saucepan with the number of eggs you desire to cook. Place them gently in the saucepan and make sure to check for hairline cracks that might cause the egg to crack while cooking.
-
Step 3
When all eggs are in the saucepan fill the saucepan with water until it completely covers the eggs. There should be at least 2 inches of room from the top of the water to the rim of the saucepan to prevent boil over and lessen the chances of spilling boiling water on yourself.
-
Step 4
Place the saucepan on the stove uncovered and turn the burner the saucepan is on to medium-high. Sprinkle 1 to 2 tablespoons of salt in the water.
-
Step 5
Check the saucepan every minute or two and as soon as it hits a full boil (The bubbles formed by the boiling water break the surface with force.) turn the burner off and place the tightly fitting lid on the saucepan.
-
Step 6
Set the timer for 8 minutes.
-
Step 7
When the timer goes off it is time to cool the eggs. Using a hot pad move the saucepan back to the sink. Remove the lid and drain the hot water. Begin filling with cold water and add ice. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes as the eggs cool.
-
Step 8
Empty the water from the pot and begin peeling the eggs.
