Step 1
What is the age of the baby ?
Generally most jogging strollers are meant for babies older than 6 months. Though there are models with reclining seats which are meant for younger babies, it is probably a good idea to consult your pediatrician to determine whether your baby is ready for a jogging ride. -
Step 2
Check wheel Size
Wheel size matters. A good thumb rule is bigger the wheel size more the smoother the ride, less rolling resistance and in general more comfortable the stroller.
Wheels come in 12″, 16″, and 20″+ sizes. To decide which size is best for you, think about how you will use the stroller. 12″ Wheels are best for walking on smooth surfaces, like sidewalks, bike paths, and indoors.
16″ Wheels are great for frequent outdoor walking or jogging on fairly smooth surfaces, with light off-road use (like cutting across a grassy field).20″+ Wheels are made for frequent long-distance running and off-road use. -
Step 3
Decide on fixed wheel or swivel
For serious jogging a fixed wheel is the best as it provides stability and straight tracking. However , you are most likely use the stroller in other places for example a swivel wheel is more appropriate for a mall as it is more easier to maneuver. We also have the “hybrid” strollers which try to give you the best of both worlds. These have a swivel front wheel which can be locked in position. Again , for serious jogging for swivel , but for people who will do an occasional jog, go for a hybrid stroller. -
Step 4
Make sure it has Five-point harness
Most standard models come with a five-point harness for baby’s safety, but please do make sure. This is very important when running at high speeds. -
Step 5
Check seat comfort
Check for reclining seats with ample padding so that baby is comfortable. -
Step 6
Check stroller folding
Make sure folding is easy and it folds easily and how small it folds. Make sure once folded it easily fits in your car trunk. -
Step 7
Check how much does it cost ?
This is important as the price range is quite wide typically anywhere from $100 to well over $500. A good quality stroller will serve and your baby very well, last long and retains its resale value over time. But please to comparison shopping and make sure you get a good deal.
