Instructions

    • 1

Wrap the nylon tow strap around the steel post two or three times.

    • 2

Rent a farm jack from a tool rental shop. They're also available for purchase at discount tool stores such as Harbor Freight. Position the jack next to the post you wish to remove with the tongue of the jack facing the post.

    • 3

Hook one or both of the loops of the tow straps around the tongue of the jack.

    • 4

Begin to crank the jack handle. You'll notice the tow strap tightening around the post with more force on each crank. You may have to release the jack and rewrap the strap to get the right fit.

    • 5

Continue cranking the jack handle. The force will shift from tightening the strap to lifting the post, eventually pulling out the post.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you must put the jack on soft ground because of space limitations use a wide base under the jack to spread the weight and prevent sinking.
