How to Configure a Netgear WG302 Wireless Access Point

The Netgear ProSafe Wireless Access Point 802.11g WG302 is a basic component of a wireless local-area network. It provides a connectivity link between wired networks and wireless devices in a home or small business. For many network applications, the wireless access point is simply a component that broadcasts a signal and receives data sent by the wireless devices on the network.

      From a computer connected to the Netgear WG302 via Ethernet cable, type 192.168.0.228 in the address field of your Web browser and hit Enter.

      Type admin in the User Name field and password in the Password field. Click Login Now.

      Supply an access-point name, then click Apply. If your network requires that settings in the IP Address section be changed, do so. Select your time zone from the Time Zone dropdown list. When all changes have been made, click Apply before navigating away from this page.

      Click Wireless Settings in the Basic section of the main menu. Open the dropdown list for Country/Region, then select the country in which the Netgear WG302 will be used. The settings in the Wireless LAN section can be left at default for most applications. If your network requires it, change these settings to allow proper functioning of the WG302. All wireless devices on your network must use the same network name (SSID) and channel. Click Apply before navigating away from this dialog.

      Input the appropriate settings for wireless security mode in the WEP/WPA Settings dialog. All wireless devices on your network must use the same security encryption mode and the same key. Click Apply before navigating away from this dialog.
