How to Fix the Guitar Hero PC Lag

The Guitar Hero series features rhythm-based gameplay. This makes lag particularly devastating for these games. If the controller cannot be relied on to input the notes at the proper time, it is not possible to play the game. With consoles, it is much easier for the developer to get rid of lag issues since all consoles use the same specifications. PCs are more complex machines, and there are a few steps that can be taken to reduce lag on a PC.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify your computer matches or exceeds the recommended specifications. The recommended specifications can be found on the game box.

    • 2

Close any unnecessary programs before starting the game. Everything listed in the taskbar will usually be unnecessary for the system to run properly.

    • 3

Disconnect your network cable from the computer. Only do this step if you plan to play single player only.

    • 4

Disable your firewall before starting the game. Again, only do this step if you plan to just play as a single player.

    • 5

Start the game and lower the video options to the lowest possible settings in the game options menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember to enable your firewall and plug the network cable back in after you finish playing a single player game.
