1
Lay out the tea towel onto a work surface so that the long edges are at the top and bottom and the wrong side of the towel is facing up. Place your longest knitting needles onto the tea towel so that the top of the knitting needle is 1 inch below the top edge of the towel. Bring up the bottom edge of the tea towel over the bottom of the knitting needles in a pocket fashion. Bring this edge up as far as you can to make the pocket as high as possible. Adjust the pocket across the length of the tea towel so that it is even and mark this point on both the left and right sides edges of the tea towel with pins. Remove the knitting needles. Measure down from the pinned points 3/4 inch (the width of the casing you will make), and mark this point on both the left and right edges to indicate the pocket placement. Remove the pins.

2
Unfold the tea towel and refold the bottom edge up 3/4 inch to make a casing for the elastic. Press this fold and pin in place. Stitch a seam 1/8 inch from the edge.

3
Measure the length of the tea towel from left edge to right edge. Measure and cut a length of elastic that is 1 inch shorter than this measurement. Thread the elastic through the casing, ensuring the ends of the elastic are even with the edges of the casing. Secure the elastic into the casing by stitching across the ends at the left and right edges of the casing.

4
Fold the bottom edge of the tea towel up again to the marked points. Pin the pocket in place. Sew the side edges of the pocket along both the left and right edges.
-
5
Fold the ribbon length in half. Fold the tea towel in half width-wise to find the center point along the left side edge. Mark this point on the left side edge with a pin.

Lay out the tea towel so that the long edges are on the top and bottom and the pocket is facing up. Determine the width of the pocket dividers. To make dividers for knitting needles, the dividers should be spaced approximately 1 1/2 inches apart. Determine your spacing with small marks or by placing pins,
and sew vertical lines from the top of the pocket to the bottom edge of the tea towel. Clip all stray threads. -
8
Place knitting needles into the pocket and start rolling from the right edge. When the knitting needle roll is completely rolled up, use the ribbon at the left edge to tie around the roll to secure it.
