How to Change Folder Names on the Start Menu of Windows XP

Are you tired of all those folders on the Start Menu of your Windows XP being called "My" whatever? Here's a great way to easily and quickly change My Documents or My Pictures to a new name of your choice. Now your Start Menu doesn't have to look like everyone elses.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Windows XP
  1. Step 1

    Left click on "Start" in the lower left-hand of the computer screen on a computer that runs Windows XP. The Start Menu will appear, including folders such as My Documents and My Pictures, among others. Choose which folder you wish to rename.

  2. Step 2

    Right click on the folder whose name you wish to change. A little menu will open up which includes an option to rename the folder.

  3. Step 3

    Left click on "Rename" in the menu that opened and type in the new name you've chosen.

  4. Step 4

    Left click anywhere else on the computer screen, Windows XP will automatically save the new name change you've made, and you're ready to move on to your next task.
