Step 1
One of the most important steps to treating your sunburn is to make sure that your skin can recover based on the nutrients you are taking in on a daily basis. This includes making sure you drink plenty of water, to ensure your body can clear out toxins and inflammatory cells, and taking some aspirin to cut down on swelling and pain. Make sure you do not leave the house after getting a sunburn without covering up and applying sunscreen! Any further sun damage when your skin is already compromised could worsen the problem.

Step 2
A sunburn (depending on how bad it is) can be on scale with a first degree burn, and the dead skin will start to peel as the skin regenerates itself. To help in this process, you will prepare the skin to be exfoliated. To create a skin exfoliating treatment, combine one part olive oil with two parts sugar in a bowl. Stir thoroughly until both ingredients are combined. You may use any type of olive oil, virgin, extra virgin, or light, it doesn't really matter. As far as the sugar is concerned, use white sugar, but not a fine consistency. Organic cane sugar can also be used if it is available. To add a more appealing smell, put a few drops of vanilla extract or almond oil.

Step 3
Once the scrub is done, set it to the side. Make sue to cleanse all affected areas with a gentle soap for sensitive skin, like Dove Sensitive Skin Bar Soap. Soap and rinse with water, and then pat dry. With the skin still damp, add the scrub in small amounts, and rub into the skin in a circular motion. Repeat until most of the peeling skin is removed, and rinse thoroughly.

Step 4
Cut an aloe vera leaf off of the plant. It is better to use one of the lower leaves, which are located to the bottom of the plant. Then, cut it sideways on the side seam, so that it is split in half long ways. Make short cots across the open flesh, and then apply the leaf directly onto the skin (wet side down), and spread it onto the affected areas with your hands, Apply the aloe vera at least twice daily to speed up healing.
