Things You'll Need:
- Sprouter
- fan (optional)
- Cool water
-
Step 1
The first step is to make sure that what you see is mold and not root hairs. Root hairs are tiny fuzzy looking hairs that can easily be mistaken as mold.
-
Step 2
Make sure your Spouter is thoroughly clean. Sterilize it every few sprouting sessions.
To sterilize use diluted hydrogen peroxide or grapefruit seed extract and let your sprouter soak in the water for 10 or more minutes. -
Step 3
Make sure that all the water is comletely drained after each rinse. Moisture is necessary for the process of spouting, but water left in after rinsing can cause too much moisture that helps mold grow.
-
Step 4
Make sure when you rinse your sprouts, you rinse them with cool water, not warm water, each time you rinse.
-
Step 5
Make sure you have good air circulation. If your house is hot and humid make sure they are sprouting in a room with a fan, to keep air circulating. And make sure they are not kept in a small closed in space, such as in a cabinet.
