International Mobile Equipment Identity or IMEI is a number unique to each cell phone. This number can be locked out by the GSM network in case your phone is lost or stolen. Some prepaid cell phone companies also require that you know this number in order to purchase minutes for your cell phone. So if you lost it, here is the way to get it back.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you have the original packaging the IMEI number will be located next to the serial number.

  2. Step 2

If not, take the cover off of the battery compartment of your phone. Remove the battery and look inside the compartment. Many models will have this number written right there next to the SIM card slot.

  3. Step 3

Third option would be to type in *#06# on the display screen. This works for many models

  4. Step 4

As a last resort you can give your mobile phone provider’s support a phone call. They can usually help you out.
