How to get a new Russian passport
Is your Russian International Passport expired? Want to renew it?
Things You'll Need
- 4 (2х2") passport photos
- old international passport or a police report stating you have lost it or it has been stolen (if this is the case you will need your domestic passport or other documentation of citizenship)
- copy of both sides of your green card or the front page of your USA passport
- for pensioners - copy of SSI or the Russian equivalent documentation
- approximately $300
- make sure you are registered with your local consulate

Compile all the required documents. Double check you have the correct ones. The Embassy (see below) will require 3 photos while Passport Services - the company (see below) will require 4 photos.

If you are not registered with your consulate make sure you become registered. You may visit this website (http://www.russianembassy.org/) to find out more about your consulate office. You might need to pay around $550 (http://www.russianembassy.org/CONSULAT/registr.htm) to register yourself or "postavit' sebya na uchet."

Fill out the necessary form online at the embassy website (http://www.russianembassy.org/CONSULAT/pasport.htm#PMG). For this website make sure to send a return envelope, for example FEDEX - so you can receive your passport. Another way to do this is through a passport service such (http://www.russianpassportservice.com/en/renewrussianpassport.html), however, it would be more expensive, but also possible more convenient.
