"Hannah Montana" is a television show that is popular with preteen girls and is viewed on the Disney Channel. The program lends a colorful musical theme to a young girl's party. Complete your birthday, sleepover or karaoke party with a Hannah Montana cake for dessert. You can bake a favorite cake and decorate it for your Hannah fan in a way that will have her guests cheering. Use colors that are dominant in the title of the television show character, concerts and toy advertising.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 to 4 cake mixes
  • 2 8-inch-rounds or 9x13-inch pan
  • Food-coloring gel
  • Decorator bag
  • Decorating tips no. 3, 104 and 29
  • 6 to 8 cups of frosting
  • Glitter candles
  1. Step 1

Mix and bake a double layer round or a rectangular cake according to package directions and cool thoroughly. You can use a Hannah Montana cake pan for a shaped cake. Frost the entire cake with a thin layer of white or pink frosting. Use a few drops of red coloring gel to mix in with white to make a light pink frosting. Let sit for an hour or longer. This thin layer of frosting helps keep any crumbs covered when you frost and decorate the cake.

  2. Step 2

Find a picture of the Hannah Montana title in a coloring book or in the download offerings at the Disney channel website. Make two copies of the title onto a piece of paper that is the appropriate size for the cake. Cut out the names separately to use for a pattern.

  3. Step 3

Frost the cake with a second layer of pink or white frosting. This frosting will be crumb-free and ready to be decorated.
Mix yellow coloring gel into 1 1/2 cup of white frosting for the name Hannah and decorative piping. Add more gel if you want a brighter yellow color. Mix lavender gel into 1 cup of white frosting for the name Montana. Add blue gel to 1/2 cup of white frosting for flowers if blue is needed for step 7.

  4. Step 4

Carefully place the Montana title shape onto the frosted cake top. Trace around the outline of the title with a toothpick, making a 1/4-inch indentation in the frosting. Place the Hannah title above the Montana portion, overlapping the first "H" onto the top of the "M," as seen in the official title.

  5. Step 5

Frost the "Montana" letters with lavender-colored frosting with the tip of a butter knife or a no. 104 tip. Outline the letters with white frosting using the no. 3 cake-decorating writing tip. Let set for at least 30 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Use yellow frosting to frost the "a-n-n-a-h" portion of the Hannah title with the butter knife or no. 104 tip. Use the 104 tip and yellow frosting to form the "H" with the lower portion flowing over the top of the "M," again as seen in the commercial title. The "o-n-t-a-n-a" letters, which were frosted in step 5, have no overlapping from the "Hannah" lettering.

  7. Step 7

Fill the decorator bag with white or blue frosting and use a no. 29 closed-star tip to pipe edges along the exterior bottom and top of the cake. You can also use the no. 29 tip to pipe flowers onto the surface of the cake top and sides in any complementary Hannah Montana color.

  8. Step 8

Add lavender or pink glitter candles to the cake.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add a new Hannah Montana doll and her childhood horse to the cake board for a more flamboyant display for a birthday girl's party. Seat the doll next to the cake at one corner. The horse can be placed on the cake or on the table next to the doll.
  • Canned frosting will not work well for this cake project. A handmade frosting using confectioner's sugar will produce the stiffer consistency needed for decorating with tips.
